Evanston’s Custer Street Fair was this past weekend, and it was awesome! There were many vendors and performances. It’s wonderful to live in a place where I can walk to a street fair with over 400 vendors.
Hip Circle Studio on Washington St. in South Evanston was one of the amazing performances at the fair. I caught their Belly Dance routine on Sunday and wanted to share it with you! They started out with a choreographed routine, and then the owner of the studio, Malik, performed an improvised solo. Afterward, there was a “flash mob,” where other students of the studio danced in the crowd. From there, Malik taught everyone in the crowd how to dance!
There was huge crowd watching the performance, and many of those people joined in at the end! I had fun being able to capture everyone dancing, and watching all the children have a blast. If you’re interested in taking classes at Hip Circle Studio, I highly recommend it! Where else can you find a mother daughter belly dance class?
